Vanderbilts Update

Our friends, the "Vanderbilts" have returned to their home! It is in disrepair, although more from wind than water, which makes it much more repairable than many. The three of them have been joined by 20 (TWENTY!!!!) newly-homeless friends and family members. This must be quite something; they are a small family who live in a small-family size house (not a Vanderbiltesque house), but they are very thankful to have a home to share, and they are making the best of the situation. Jobs and school are still up in the air.

Fairchild update: I am brain-fried. Today begins day three of the marathon intern orientation and training at the agency where I began working part-time over the summer. I like all my students, and am excited to work with them. But I am not accustomed to talking/teaching/sitting around for three straight days, and I am, as I said, fried before I even begin today. Well, I'm off to teach about suicide. I hope you're doing something more fun than that with your Saturday!

17 heads are better than one . . .

23 people in one small house?
Wow. And it probably doesn't seem like much of a hardship to any of 'em right now, all things considered...

Susie, make sure to tell your students not to play the records backward! ;)

My word verification is oxymz.

Glad to hear your friends are back in their home, and sharing it. That is very nice.
I hope you can get some 'brain de-fry' time later.

Too many people in one house. But are you going to do?

I hope once this is done that your brain will come back all nice and Susie-fied. Just the way we love you.

My word verification is ptunm. Kinda sounds like spitting, doesn't it?

Oh, now I got ugybuma

You may draw your own conclusions.

Your brain-fried tops mine. I have to memorize a list of words (most of them in Latin) pertaining to the music of the Middle Ages aka Gregorian chants. Music Appreciation is more than what's on the radio. At least for this class.
After all these years of low paying jobs and seeing the need for some letters after my name, I still dislike school, so I'm with ya on the difficulty of sitting still for too long.

Good to hear that they can possibly repair the damage and that they opened their house to others in need.
Brain Fried,Saturday and Suicide? Sounds like a song waiting to be written

Very thoughtful of them.

Hey sunshine, just wanted to let you know that I got some trojan viruses that tried to download onto my computer when I opened your blog. Been missing you sweetness.

Bless you for caring so much about others!

Bucky, is ugybuma something like booty flies?

So glad to hear they're all OK and the house is repariable and they've got enough room in their hearts for family and friends. After all, if there isn't room in their hearts, there certainly won't be room in the house.

My word verification is "pdyju". I think it's Pygmalian.

So happy to hear the Vanderbilts are back home, and with guests to boot!

You got a "how to do it" class on suicide? I guess that's just as valuable as trying to learn how to repair toasters.

Thank goodness on behalf of the Vanderbilts, and their friends! And by now, your three-day fun-fest is OVER!!!!

:::doing the Snoopy dance:::

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

bucky, yea, I think they're just so thankful to have a place. Sadly, my students have probably never heard of records.
I ALWAYS oxymz.

lawbrat, thanks, I hope I can de-fry soon, too.

squirl, yes, please don't spit on my blog. You ARE the classy one, don't forget that. Right this minute, I don't think my brain can make a come-back; but I hope.

bucky, aw, your buma is not ugy. Not at all.

mrsDoF, I hate to say it, but those of us of a certain age -- it's just a lot harder to do that sort of thing all day. And after 3 full days of it, plus one evening of seeing clients, I FEEL that certain age.

mrtl, I'm proud of my friends, but not a bit surprised. The grapes and fan sound good. Actually, they were my pit crew this morning, when I was rushing around to get out of the house on time, they packed my lunch, including grapes.

william, if I weren't so brain fried on this suicidal saturday night, I'd take a stab at it.

jac, yes, they are like that.

nic, I'm sorry about those bastard trojans! I hope that's not something about my blog. I don't know how those things work.

misfit, you are so right. Their hearts are so big, it makes their house big enough. I think that's how that math works :)

sierrabella, yep, plenty o' guests. They're calling it the Vanderbilt Hotel and 24-hour Diner.

hoss, yea, I combined the two into one quick course: How to Commit Suicide By Toaster Repair. I KILLED!!!!

eclectic, it is over. I wish I had enough energy left to do the snoopy dance with you!

That's very big of the vanderbilts, the world needs more people like them!!!

Hope things lighten up for you soon... suicide talk's a real downer.

tkwcu-- that's almost like my real name :-)

Susie, I'm glad you made it through those days with the students.

I spent the whole day wrangling little girls and putting up halloween decorations and shopping.

I am beat!

23 people in one house? That sounds like the making of a porno movie.

Oh come on, I cant be the only one who things these things? Besides Bucky..

OWWA???

twixie, thanks, I'm looking forward to "lighter" too.

squirl, or a cigar named after a tiger :)

jess, little girl wrangling beats grad student wrangling. Go rest. (porno move? whah?)
